We did a lot of kayaking tours during our year of travel through the USA. But nothing compared to this! We’ve never seen so much wildlife on a trip and never such beautiful water like in Wekiwa Springs State Park. The water was so clear, you could see everything from fauna to animals down to the ground. The colors.. unbelievable. We could see why this park sometimes needs to close down, because they just get run over by tourists, as it is so amazingly beautiful and very close to Orlando too.
But stop talking.. enjoy for yourself some pictures of Wekiwa Springs State Park:
Quite scary to see huge alligators like this just 1-2 meters next to yourself out of a tiny shaky kayak/canoe.
The ground had sometimes a red color.. in reality extremely beautiful
A very funny one
Besides being on the water, we also hiked Wekiwa State Park, where we also saw more wildlife than in other parks, such as gopher tortoises, white tailed deer, bold eagles, turkey, armadillos and of course squirrels etc. We did not see any black bears or bobcats, although they are also seen in the park. Some nice bike and hike trails to explore:
Eyra saw the gopher tortoise first and stopped to watch
Turkeys just at our camp site
See Three on the Road next in the tropical Florida Keys, Key West.
Wow! Great pics and so much wildlife! Looks amazing! How are you guys ever gonna get used to living in boring old Switzerland again? 😉
