Hilton Head, SC

After the stunning nature of Edisto Beach we headed for a short stop to one of the most beautiful RV Resorts, the Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort, situated in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Traveling with Sarah of course always means, that bad weather is following you, so as you see in the radar map below, we had the chance to have quite some rain exactly where we were. This lead to some minor flooding in front of our RV at our site. Even Eyra was freezing and rolling herself up to get some warmth.. By the way, lots of people tell us, hey, why are you always saying the weather is bad, in your pictures it’s blue sky all the time. Yes, this is as we only take pictures (or try to) when it’s sunny outside 😉🙄.

But at least we seem to have an own island in the surroundings.. 😂HiltonHead-1

And as we were there around the 6th of December, which in Switzerland a day, where you traditionally eat a so called ” Grätima” and celebrate the “Samichlaus” day, we had the right temperatures and weather to stay insight and have some Swiss tradition in the US.

And Sarah enjoyed to ride a golf cart for the first time, as you could use them in the resort to check out sites. That was very cool 😂🙈.

And that’s the Resort and our site.. really beautiful:

Nearby was Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, where we had an interesting hike and even saw a gator enjoying the sun.

That picture was taken with the iPhone, as we did not have our camera with us on that hike. So you can imagine how close the big guy was.. As we’re still not used to see them just like that and not in a zoo, like we know it from Switzerland, it’s every time still slightly frightening..
