Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston was founded in 1670 and is the oldest city in South Carolina why it has therefore historically a lot to offer. It got voted “America’s #1 Small City” and bursts with Southern charm. You feel like suspended in time. All these amazing antebellum houses, the cobblestone paved roads, horse carriages, the hospitality, the awesome food culture and distinguished restaurants. By “Travel & Leisure” the city got ranked “America’s most friendly city” and “World’s best city”. We can definitively say.. it is an amazing city and you just feel so comfortable there.

According to Wikipedia, historians estimate that nearly half of all Africans brought to America arrived in Charleston and had therefore a majority-enslaved population. We’ll do a separate blog on one of these plantations.
